Funny how the seasons go
in a gray disappearing rush
and shadows everywhere appear
to discuss how they may grow
to overtake pale light, pale cheer,
waging inconsequential war
beneath the evening’s watery gaze
on grave earth, imprisoning tomb –
I turn to see sweet burning
stars as darkness softly falls
and keeping watch the Son of God
who on the Cross won death’s death
and brings the new day’s dawn –
So mourning turns to morning dance
for His life gives breath to stars.
“Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father.
He who has ears, let him hear.”
(Matthew 13:43)

Thank you, Rambling Rose. It’s wonderfully cheering to receive such a compliment from a sister-in-Christ whose own blog is truly lovely. I hope it is not too irreverent to (mis)quote St. Paul’s exhortation in Philippians 3:14 and ask you to “[Word]press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus!”
