Stay bright, yellow
Roughshod blue the bliss of it
Corner it free to humility
Bother the pride loose
Trill the tree-lit melodies
Emblazon green
In ragged hearts
Gush on the joy
Glory forth the holy
Genuflect the new life
Grace unspeakable
Stay bright, yellow

I love the positivity in this… spring is so much of yellow, I want to daffodil barefoot.

We have a sea of daffodils in the park near us. Stunning every year, in lots of varieties.

Daffodils are such a warm, cheerful yellow, Dora, I want them to stay bright too. It’s such a shame when they start to fade. But they make way for other flowers and other colours.

I think in this poem daffodil yellow becomes for me like the moments when we allow the incursions of the divine, God’s presence, into our lives.

Yellow staying bright lights the world. Oh what a lovely, spiritual entreaty ❤

Lisa, Isn’t it amazing how it’s after you write a poem that you realize what you’re saying! I think you got there before I did. It’s an entreaty to the divine refreshment that we receive at times, that bright, ineffable “yellow,” to stay, to never depart.

I love all the yellow. It’s like sunshine captured in a flower.

Bother the pride loose! Seems like that is very hard to do! Great poem Dora. Love the theological undertones.

Thanks, Dwight. When I wrote it I hardly knew I was addressing specifically the Holy Spirit, an entreaty to Him to shine always as brightly in us as He shines in those moments when we feel His presence most strongly. The daffodil/yellow became a visual vehicle for that plea.

Hey Dora my friend, I wanted to let you know that your link to the Muse this week did not go to your poem. My laptop has been acting up so you may want to re link it. I will delete the wrong one on Monday at work. Hope you have a great weekend. 🌹

Thanks Carrie. I’m sorry about the link. I switched it to draft and didn’t switch it back. It should work now. ♥️
