A lone tree
alone tree
parched finger roots on limestone
see:
above the clay
careening
this Rock has a hold on me
as winds, storms buffet free pride
of trunk unbent:
steady in heat of day, laboring:
oh Lord my God, I thank Thee.

I feel the poem shifting from the observer, to the voice of the tree….beautifully done. And the illustration is quite perfect with it!

I think this is a wonderful extended metaphor… so much we want to be like those trees, resilient even in the worst of conditions…

I enjoyed the idea of the world careening around us, yet we are secured by the stable rock that is God’s love. It’s a beautiful journey, love the picture! 😍
