Somewhere
I can find a rainbow
smuggled in like an overcoat
thrown across my shoulders
in chilly December.
Somewhere
I will see a dark window
where a winged angel sits cradling
a homeless soul on a grimy ledge
over D.C.’s VIP traffic.
Somewhere
maybe what we don’t yet know
will be all that is true power
faith beyond snip and tucked illusions
on venal wrinkling faces.
Carrie's Sunday Muse #190 photo prompt Sammi's Weekend Writing Prompt#239: 66 words exactly, "smuggle"
Beautiful contrast. Wonderful imagery. Thank you, Dora.

We all need that “true power faith” that is “beyond snip and tucked illusions
on venal wrinkling faces”

I tried to get Carrie not to use this pic, but that girl do like she want. I like how you contrasted with the “VIP traffic.”
Pssst, I think you will like Monday’s list!

Love this. A perfect contrast between assumed power and actual holding-back-the-chaos power. The substitution of cheap cruelty for actual power speaks to our own conceptual weaknesses.

Love the optimism of this Dora, that ‘Somewhere’ we will find good things. The imagery of the rainbow in the first stanza is perfect.
